Fertility Support

Infertility and low fertility are often related to the imbalance of Yin and Yang energies in the body. The use of Chinese Medicine for fertility dates back to ancient times. We provide a holistic approach to fertility health through the use of traditional Chinese medicine techniques and modern medical support.

Fertility support treatment at Joyful TCM Clinic — holistic approach to reproductive health

What happens at your first fertility support appointment

Knowing what to expect makes the first visit easier. Here is how a first fertility support appointment runs at our Bella Vista clinic.

  1. Health history and consultation

Your first appointment begins with a detailed conversation about your main concern, medical history, current medications, sleep, digestion, energy and stress levels. This usually takes 15–20 minutes and shapes everything that follows.

  2. Reproductive history for both partners

Where possible Joy prefers to see both partners, since male factor contributes to a substantial share of fertility difficulty. Bring any semen analysis, AMH, hormone panels, or IVF protocol documents you have.

  3. Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment

Joy uses tongue and pulse diagnosis alongside your history to identify the underlying pattern behind your symptoms. This is what distinguishes TCM from symptom-led care — two people with the same complaint often receive quite different treatment.

  4. Plan built around your cycle or IVF timeline

If you are working with a fertility clinic, treatment is scheduled around your protocol — particularly in the days before and after embryo transfer. Joy will coordinate timing rather than work in parallel.

How long it takes. Initial appointment 75 minutes; follow-up sessions 45–60 minutes.

How many sessions you will need

Preconception work is usually planned over three to four months, because that is roughly the window in which egg and sperm development can be influenced. For IVF cycles, treatment intensifies around stimulation and transfer. Starting earlier gives more room to work, but treatment can begin at any stage.

Before and after your session

  • Keep taking any medication prescribed by your fertility specialist exactly as directed.
  • Share your clinic dates as soon as you have them so sessions can be timed around them.
  • Expect lifestyle discussion — sleep, alcohol, heat exposure and stress all come into the plan.

What the evidence says about fertility support

Acupuncture is widely used alongside IVF and IUI, and while several trials suggest a benefit around embryo transfer, the overall evidence is genuinely mixed and reviews disagree. Joy will give you a realistic picture for your circumstances rather than a success rate. TCM does not replace fertility medicine.

Health fund rebates

Joyful TCM Clinic is registered with the major Australian health funds, so if your extras cover includes acupuncture you can claim on the spot via HICAPS and pay only the gap. Rebate amounts and annual limits vary considerably by fund and level of cover — check your policy before your first visit, or call the clinic and we will help you work out what you are entitled to. 0477 021 713
